Sail handling on the Nonsuch Classic 26 is very simple and was one of the design features specified by the original concept. Easily single handed, perfect for a couple for cruising. Very fast off the wind and points well. One sheet for the main and an adjustment for the wishbone for or aft to increase or decrease draft in heavy or light airs.
In the mid-1970s, Gordon Fisher, a respected Canadian sailor, commissioned designer Mark Ellis to create a design for a cruising sailboat which would have decent accommodations, but still be easy for a singlehander to manage. Ellis designed a Ljungstrom-type rig modified with a wishbone boom. By the time Hinterhoeller closed its doors in January 1996, a total of 975 of Nonsuch boats had been built with 256 of the 26`model.
This vessel is a classic example of the Nonsuch 26. She is simple and equipped as the original basic model would have been. She has been a fun family cruiser for the current owners but it is now time to move on.
