2004 CHAPARRAL SIGNATURE 240,
8.1 Volvo Penta Gi-E engine, Volvo Penta Duoprop drive
This unique higher-end pocket cruiser has been great for the current owners.
With massive torque from the unusually large 8.1 liter 375 HP fuel-injected electronic control engine, this boat cruises at 26 kn/30 MPH on good water, at a low 8-9 GPH average fuel burn. Think Desolation Sound from Vancouver in 3-4 hours on a third of a tank. The current owners are the third owners, and all have been meticulous. It's a fair price for a boat that does everything it says here and more.
2019 insurance survey available and easy sea trial at Lions Bay Marina upon accepted conditional offer. Primo ground-level covered rack storage is assumable, avoiding Lions Bay Marina's 2-year waitlist (this year's $7789 + GST is paid to Apr. 29, 2021.
ENGINE:
8.1 liter (496 cu.in) Volvo Penta Gi-E
Design detunes to 375 HP for improved fuel efficiency, with spec wide-open throttle a low 4200-4600 RPM.
At 8-9 gal/hour average fuel consumption, 71 USG (270 liter) gas tank provides 8 hour range.
Raw water cooled and religiously flushed on land after every saltwater use.
Volvo Penta Duoprop, model DP-SM (AQ). Power hydraulic trim.
Two stainless propsets: F6 (flatter) and F8 (higher angle, just re-tuned and still in boxes).
HULL:
Hand-laid fiberglass, built like a tank and takes a pounding with zero flex, creak or shimmy.
• 5400 lb. dry weight, max outside beam (to rub rails) 8' 6", max length (swim grid - tip of housed anchor) 27' 0"
• 2 strakes and 1 neutral (horizontal) chine per side with 20 degree deadrise at transom, so rides as well as can be expected in Howe Sound's and Georgia Strait's short seas, and truly a pleasure in the quieter waters of the Gulf and San Juan Islands, up to Princess Louisa Inlet, into Sechelt Inlet through Skookumchuck Narrows, and north to Savary, Cortes and Desolation Sound. •
Through-hull fittings all stainless, not nylon/plastic
• Hydraulic trim tabs (relocated their rocker switches to the top of the helm to make the continual adjustment underway more convenient)
• Draft: waterline to skeg bottom (prop horizontal) 38”
COCKPIT/DECK
. Poles and fittings are chromed stainless steel not nylon, and braces go to the hull not to the window frame
• 4 benches, vinyl in great condition (just one small hole, and some aging on one seat back)
. Helm bench flattens to single bed.
• Full camper canvas (rubberised roof panels), all Isenglas is in good shape, travel/tonneau cover with extension pole, two sets of snap-in carpet.
• Grabs, fairleads, cleats, fender racks, tiedowns, jaws everywhere. Lines of right lengths on both sides to allow for single-handed mooring.
• Oversize Delta anchor on 105 feet of galvanised G4 (anchor grade) short-link ¼” chain. Lewmar Pro-Sport electric windlass with foot switches at bow, toggle switch at helm. The chain is marked every ten feet, but windlass lets out at pretty much exactly 1 foot per second, making it easy to count off the scope. 80 lb of chain in the forepeak also helps keep the bows down with less trim tab.
• Raymarine Dragonfly 7 chartplotter (2017 Navionics charts) with downvision and sonar.
• Cold sink, icebox and hot/cold transom shower
• Raw water washdown hose outlet
• JBL stereo remotes on dash and swimgrid, Kicker KX 100.2 power amp, waterproof marine speakers
• Two Scotty electric downriggers on mounts with separate gunwale rod holders
• Wallas1300 kerosene catalytic heater: draws 5 W of power to burn 1/8 liter/hour of kerosene to pump out 1200 W of hot air. Silent so you can run it in marinas, and overboard exhaust so you can run it at anchor and overnight.
• Magma propane BBQ pole-mounts to swim platform: gets hot fast, cooks great.
• iCom IC-M324 VHF radio with 8-foot Shakespeare whip antenna. MMSI (Maritime Mobile Service Identifier) is registered to this radio (new owner must notify ISED of the change in ownership by completing Canada form AB;
